LDAP and single sign-on – filling in the information beforehand

General information about pre-filled fields and authentication

The more advanced features of E-lomake 3 software include authenticating respondents from the LDAP/AD databases and filling in fields beforehand based on the information in the user database. The pre-filled information decreases the amount of information the respondents have to fill in and makes internal questionnaires easier to use. The form automatically gets the respondent’s background information (e.g. name, e-mail address, telephone number etc.) from the LDAP user database, when the respondent has logged into the form using the correct user ID and password. The usable information can be defined for each installation and the administrator can add and remove the information, as needed.

Using the pre-filled fields

Pre-filled fields are a customer specific feature, which allows pre-determined LDAP/AD attributes to be displayed or filled in beforehand in a form.

Let’s take a common LDAP attribute as an example: email.

The feature is used by setting the value of the default text for the text field as follows:

* show:email

* prefill:email

When the default value is defined successfully, it changes its color into red and when the “Display” feature is used, the text field in question disappears and only the text is displayed.

Single sign-on (SSO)

In addition to LDAP authentication, E-lomake 3 also supports single sign-on applications. This means that the user does not have to separately sign into the E-lomake, as long as they have logged into their organization’s intranet, as an example. In such cases the LDAP pre-filled forms also work without logging into each form individually.
